Flag Day Nail Art #1
Easy - Patriotic Dots: Create your base with two coats of Myriam, a red crème polish. Let dry, then use a toothpick or a dotting tool to make dots with Brigette (the white polish), let dry completely, then add additional dots with Paulina (a peacock blue polish). Remember to extend the life of your lovely new manicure with top coat!
Flag Day Nail Art #2
More Challenging - Stars and Stripes: On all nails, paint two coats of Myriam, your red polish. Let dry. On your accent nail, use scotch tape as a guide to paint even stripes of Brigette (your white polish). I always make guidelines with scotch tape for my lines, or else they often get squiggly! Let your lines dry, then with a toothpick, draw blue stars on your accent nail with Paulina (your blue polish).
Flag Day Nail Art #3
For a Pro - Red, White & Blue Waves: Slightly more advanced. Paint half of your nail with Myriam, your red polish, and add a scalloped edge. Let dry, then apply the white scalloped paint layer with Brigette. Let dry, then finish with a third scalloped layer of Paulina (blue). Optional: Add a touch a sparkle on top of the blue with Kirby. Be sure to finish with a top coat to make your mani last and shine!
8-Piece Star-Spangled Beauty Gift PDP

Get all of the polishes above (plus 3 beauty products) in a free Star Spangled 8-Piece Beauty Gift today! Use promo codeFIREWORKS to get your free gift when you pay for your first month of Julep ($24.99).

6 Hottest Summer Travel Accessories

With summer just around the corner, many people are already making their travel plans. Millions of people will hop on planes, jump aboard cruise ships, and take the family vehicle as they head out to their destinations.

Traveling may be exciting for some, while it brings anxiety for others. One of the best ways to make travel fun is to go prepared. Some advanced planning will help make for a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.

“Most people don’t decide spur of the moment to do their summer traveling,” explains expert traveler Tina Aldatz, chief executive officer of travel wellness company Savvy Travelers. “This means you have plenty of time to prepare for your trip, and to make sure you have some of the accessories that are going to help you enjoy the time it takes for you to get there.”

Here are 6 of the hottest summer travel accessories:
  1. Cleansing wipes. Use antibacterial wipes when sitting down on an airplane or entering a cruise ship stateroom. They will minimize the risks of getting germs that can make people sick and ruin their travel plans. On the airplane, use them for the armrest, overhead knobs, seat belt buckle, and tray table. On a cruise ship stateroom or in a hotel room, use wipes on the television remote control, door knobs, toilet handle, and light switches.
  2. Apps for your phone. Traveling with the right apps can make your trip easier. Check for those that are helpful with traffic delays, maps, locating good restaurants, and more.
  3. Travel pillow. Bypass the travel pillow on the airplane and instead opt for taking your own. There are plenty of travel pillows to choose from today, including those that are inflatable, so they don’t take up much space. The “Evolution Cool” travel pillow is a top pick for savvy travelers.
  4. Portable charger. They come in many different sizes, and are easy to carry and store. They making charging on the go super simple and fast.
  5. Simple hygiene products. Forget taking bottles of hygiene products. Opt for those that are simple, ready to go, and will do the job well. Such products as mouth wipes and deodorant wipes work well for traveling.
  6. Travel journal. Invest in a small travel journal so that your adventures can be recorded. Record where you went, how you got there, who you were with, and what you did and saw. They are fun to look back on years later.

“Having some helpful accessories with you when you travel can help keep you and the family happier and healthier,” says "Mompreneur" Margie Floris, co-founder of Savvy Travelers designer beauty wipes. “As a mother of two, I find that planning ahead allows me to get to our destination and just relax with family.”

Savvy Travelers offers a no-rinse line of products that help to keep travelers healthy and lends a convenient collection of problem solvers for beauty and wellness needs. Savvy Travelers designer beauty wipes are curated for the "on-the-go” sophisticated savvy travelista! N
o Water? No Problem!  The company offers a line of pre-packaged individual cosmetic wipes, such as the “No Sweat” antiperspirant deodorant wipes, the “Speak Eazy” mouth cleansing wipes, and the “Take Offz” moisturizing wipes for the face and more.

Le Metier de Beaute Goes Punk Pretty

What a cute eyeshadow palette I’m reviewing today from Le Metier de Beaute! Instead of the typical “four-square” arrangement that most 4-color palettes use, this one comes stacked and each color swings out separately – it’s called a kaleidoscope kit and Le Metier is known for it.

This particular set is called Pretty in Punk (love the name!) and it was created exclusively for Neiman Marcus a couple of years ago.

There’s a pale beige, a bright pink, a darker pink, and black, all with a little shimmer to them. Plus a convenient mirror flips up on top.

I was a little skeptical of how I’d like this particular set of colors – pink isn’t really my go-to choice, I am more a fan of the nudes (the original Urban Decay Naked palette is my eyeshadow right-hand man).

But I was very pleasantly surprised – even though the two pinks seem very bright, they’re much lighter on your lid.

Plus, these kaleidoscopes are designed for layering, and the people at Le Metier seem to really know their stuff when it comes to what colors work together!

For a day look, I used the light beige all the way up to the brow, then layered the lighter of the pinks just on my lid.  Add a little eyeliner (I rely on MAC’s Powerpoint in Engraved) and a little black mascara (no endorsements here, I’m still searching for the perfect mascara), and voila!

A very nice look for a Sunday afternoon of flea-market shopping. And, five hours later, everything was still where I put it, as you can see in the photo! I tend to be pretty susceptible to my eye makeup creeping around on my face to places where I don’t want it, but this stayed perfectly in place. I only used my standard face primer/moisturizer, MAC’s Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion.

Jill expertly layers the eye shadow for a dramatic look.
For an evening look, I used the light beige all the way up to the brow, then blended the darker pink with the black up to the crease for a nice deep plum-like color – great for me since I wear a ton of purple! Add the eyeliner and mascara again, and I was all set!

This kit is super versatile – being able to use the pink straight up, or blend it with the black for a purple look gives me some color choices, and I can see the beige and black being very useful when I want to go neutral. The kaleidoscope design also makes it handy for traveling – this is coming with me on my next overnight trip, for sure!

While this particular kit is no longer available in stores, Le Metier de Beaute makes eye shadow kaleidoscopes in several other color palettes, available at fine retailers like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, for anywhere from $95 (for most) up to $125 (for special editions). Salon Rosa M Celebrates Its 3rd Anniversary in Narberth, PA and Raises $864 For Multiple Sclerosis

A generous group of beauty industry insiders, Main Line residents and other local business owners came together on Sunday 3/6 to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Salon Rosa M as well as to raise funds to fight MS!
Each year people look forward to March for exciting changes like the first day of spring, celebratory fun during holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and in many areas of the world, more sunshine with daylight savings.

Salon Rosa M gave us yet another reason to be excited about the month of March this year; an event to celebrate salon owner Rosa Martinez’s third year of entrepreneurial success, drawing Philadelphia-area residents to also raise funds for MS awareness. All told the event raised $864. One hundred percent of these proceeds are being donated to The National MS Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter.

Guests of the event danced the night away to a local DJ, enjoyed a variety of cocktails and wine as well as light fare from Izenberg’s Deli, all of which were donated to the event. Photographer Daniel Gonzalez captured unforgettable moments all night long.

In addition to the suggestion of monetary donations at the door, guests could also give money through participation in a silent auction featuring gifts from local businesses including Mc Shea’s Pub, Swan Dancewear, The Yoga Garden, Masterpieces Fine Art & Custom Framing, Davines Hair Products and Sanitarium Creations. The walls were beautified with art from local artists who donated beautiful paintings, drawings and stained glass works which were also auctioned for the cause.

Considering herself first and foremost an artist, Rosa Martinez completed her high school education at The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts and then went on to pursue her love for painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Moore College of Art, where she was chosen to be a part of Philadelphia’s world-renowned Mural Arts Program.
During this same time period, while completing her education in fine art, she also spent time working in retail and as an assistant in a salon. This juxtaposition of her education and her work in the worlds of fashion and beauty brought her to the realization that what she really wanted to do was pursue a career as a hair stylist. Hair would now become her preferred canvas for expression.
In an effort to achieve this goal, she pursued studies and licensing in hair at Empire Beauty School, located in downtown Philadelphia, PA. Upon completing her education and certification as a licensed cosmetologist in the state of PA, she also went on to pursue specialized training from a number of high profile beauty programs including the Vidal Sassoon academy in LA and “Great Lengths” hair extensions.

In 2013, after 20 years’ experience in the worlds of art, beauty and fashion, she opened Salon Rosa M, in Narberth, PA. It is here that she found the ideal stage on which to showcase her many talents on a diverse range of clients. She is a frequent guest on Philadelphia's NBC 10 and a three time "Best of Philly" winner. Her work has been featured in Philadelphia Magazine, Brides Magazine, Allure, SheKnows, and many other high profile print and digital outlets. She has styled for Stars Network "Magic City" and with Ecru and Amika for NYC based fashion projects. Her past awards include, “Most Intricate Hair” at City of Hope’s Hair Ball in Philadelphia as well as “OMC Hair World” in Chicago.

Hair Warrior: A Leave-in Hydration Hair Fitness Treatment for Working Out at the Gym

The salt from sweat can actually wreak havoc on my hair, but there's a cool new product to counteract damage. Hair Warrior is a revolutionary hair care product that adds both hydration and protection during physical activity and fitness.

Applied prior to activity, Hair Warrior works with your body heat to smooth, protect and condition each strand – preventing damage and strengthening your hair. Hair Warrior is a heat-activated product, adding hydration and protection to each strand as the body sweats and heats up during activity.

I have been trying this on my hair before i work out, and it makes my hair a but stiff as I've got fine hair, but it's nice having a safe hair care product on my hair, because my hair does get sweaty during a spin class or yoga and it doesn't drip or feel icky.

Later, when I take a shower and wash my hair, hair feels very soft and doesn't look as beat up!

When the body sweats, the salt from perspiration damages and roughens the hair. Hair Warrior works hard when you do – preserving, strengthening and smoothing the hair’s strands.
Hair Warrior is different from other hair protection products because the health of your hair will improve with each use. Not only does Hair Warrior replenish what has been lost, but also it will prevent damage to the hair at the same time.

Formulated with the highest quality botanical and essential oils, Hair Warrior is a carefully composed scientific formula that acts as an electrolyte for the hair follicles. The patented water locking feature adds volume to the hair, hydrates each individual strand and preserves both hair’s color and natural texture.  Hair Warrior is free from parabens, glutens and formaldehyde and is a vegan friendly product.
